Saint Augustine's House

Dear Friend of St. Augustine’s House, If you have been following our past newsletters you are aware of the new residential wing we have been planning for over a year. Last month ground was broken and the construction phase is now underway. The wing will provide four bedrooms (cells) for permanent or semi-permanent residents and is designed for future expansion. During the planning the idea emerged that the spacious lower level could become a new library, although this represented a considerable broadening of the original project. We are grateful to our associate members, Pastor John Cochran and Dr. George Weckman, whose interest in residing here and whose generous financial contributions have made it possible to begin this undertaking and to proceed this far. Now we are also grateful to Mr. Ernest Baker, a retired advertising executive, for leading our fund drive to complete this project and to Mr. Charles Clark of Clark Graphic Service Company for printing the colorful brochure you hold in your hands. In the following pages you will find information on what has been done and what remains to be done to make the new library and residence a reality here at St. Augustine’s House. If you are moved to share in this project through a gift in any amount we would be most grateful. In any case, we are happy to be able to share news of this project with you and to ask that you pray for us that, as our mission statement directs, we may “serve the whole Church by our life of prayer and by the use of our facilities.” Sincerely,Fr. Richard G. Herbel Please see the back page of the Lent 2008 Newsletter for an update on construction and photos. Please see the Summer 2008 Newsletter for a complete update. |
